Compliance is Just the Beginning

Compliance is just the beginning of decision making
Ethical decision making leads to business success and good corporate social responsibility, but weak ethics, poor ethical decision making or poor compliance with the law, organisational policy and regulations can have catastrophic implications for organisations and individuals. One seemingly small poor ethical decision can ripple out – think of Enron, Worldcom, Barings Bank, senior or political resignations due to a poor judgement or decision. It is easy to think that this one decision is ok, it won’t be found out, it doesn’t really matter.
Compliance is Just the Beginning
Just because a particular ethical decision is legal or complies with organisational or corporate regulations or policy does not make it the best or only answer.
Compliance is Just the Beginning is an American DVD programme that offers an easy-to-learn approach to ethical decision making that will help employees at all levels make better ethical decisions, and provides scenarios to spark discussion on ethics, corporate social responsibility and compliance with organisational regulations and policies.
Compliance is Just the Beginning is a programme (choose between DVD and video) that comes in two parts:
Program One, 3 Steps to Ethical Decisions (24 minutes), introduces the ethical decision making process.
Using a variety of presentation techniques to make the programme lively and stimulating, a former Enron executive and six ethics experts discuss the pressures people can feel that may lead them to make poor ethical decisions. You and your staff can explore the importance of being aware of personal core values as well as the standards of behaviour expected by your organisation and wider communities.
Compliance is Just the Beginning helps you and your staff learn the 3 steps they can each take when faced with a tough ethical choice to help them make the best possible decision.
Program Two, Ethical Situations to Consider (32 minutes), presents you with 8 dramatised scenarios. These stories represent familiar ethical issues most of us will face at some time in our professional or personal lives. By discussing these situations and applying the 3 Steps process in each case, employees gain valuable practice and reinforcement in making ethical decisions and acting in a socially responsible manner.
The programs comes on two DVDs or two videos, with a comprehensive Facilitator's Guide, and a CD-ROM containing course outlines, training activities, reproducible handouts, and optional PowerPoint slides.
