Influencing is a key skill that trainers, more than many other professions, need. They need it to ‘sell’ innovative concepts such as internal consultancy, coaching, mentoring, blended learning and lifetime learning to the organisation and its staff. They also need to persuade managers to release staff for training, to contend with negative delegate attitudes, deal with unsupportive line managers and indifference to post-training implementation.
