Searching for a Training Activity
- Decide on the keywords that are most likely to appear/describe the training activity you are searching for. The more specific these keywords are the more precise your search results will be.
- Enter these keywords into the search box and press the search button, a list of search results based on these keywords will be returned.
- If the first page or two of results do not contain the types of training activity you are looking for, simply change your keywords and search again.
- If you get very few or no results try broadening the keywords used in your search. Also try different words with the same meaning such as “competency” and “competencies”.
- If you have too many results returned try narrowing the terms of your
search.
This can be achieved through:
- Using more precise search keywords
- Using the advanced keyword search for ALL entered keywords or even an EXACT phrase.
- Using the advanced search to search for training activities via additional properties such as group sizes, duration and rating.
Results
Search results are displayed in a specified order with the most relevant training activities placed at the top. When you perform a search we explore our training portal for activities that contain your search keywords. In general the more keywords in a training activity that match your search keywords the higher in the list of returned activities it is placed.
When you add more keywords to your search we use all of the elements to narrow your search. The more narrow your search the greater the possibility of an appropriate training activity being placed at the top of your search results.
Search Tips
Be specific
Refine your search, if you are looking for an activity on conflict for
a team then be specific. Just typing in “team” will return
a huge array of irrelevant results compared to if you were search for
both “team” AND “Conflict”
Spelling
If you are returning very few results or results that do not match then
it could be that you have misspelled a word. Review your spelling of your
keywords.
Word Variations
If a certain search keyword is returning the wrong results try a variation
of the word, e.g. if your searching “competency” try “competencies”.
Small words
Unless when searching for a key phrase try not to use common words such
as “the”, “and”, “how”, “activity”
these can affect your search results. Omitting them from general searches
will have no impact whatsoever.
