Some objectives seem very difficult and unrealistic at the outset. However, in order to make sure that we have the best chance of achieving them we need to explore all the possibilities and eliminate those that are not efficient. These decisions must be agreed by the team as a whole. If each member of the team fully understands their own role, they are less likely to take chances, hoping they will ‘hit the mark’. Making decisions on processes as a whole team has a number of advantages. Team members will feel more motivated to make their part of the process as effective as it can be, and if any changes do need to be made, only the small changes will have to be communicated rather then whole plans. This training activity addresses the issue by showing that even the toughest of objectives can be achieved if the whole team have together planned an effective process, and everyone understands fully the part that they play.
Participants work as a group to build a pyramid out of card. They must build the bricks that will fit together to construct the pyramid. Minimum resources are provided, which means that the team must improvise and plan very effectively.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to enable participants to understand how to over come difficult objectives. They have 30 minutes to complete a design and construction training activity to test and challenge even the best minds.
