This training activity will help participants put their career plans into action when they have decided what job or which career direction to aim for. The emphasis of the training activity is on encouraging participants to be proactive. They examine how to conduct a job search and end the training activity with a phased implementation plan.
Following a brief introduction, the participants examine the elements of a ‘career campaign plan’ and how to adapt the format for their own needs. Next, they assume the position of an employer to look at career progression from the employer’s perspective. This is a fun exercise designed to direct participants to an appreciation of the impact of any actions they may write on a career campaign plan, as well as to explore the different recruitment avenues employers’ use. The next exercise concerns how to broaden an existing job or to progress one’s career within the current organisation, often the most feasible next step on a career campaign plan. The training activity concludes with participants completing their personal career campaign plans.
