This training resource places the emphasis on participants taking responsibility for their own situations, rather than blaming problems on vague third parties, and on taking positive action to improve time management, through improved dealings with the people who cause problems or who can help.

In this training activity, participants consider the interpersonal aspects of time management and the benefits that assertive skills can bring to their use of time.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to help participants improve their use of time by placing the emphasis on their taking responsibility for their own situations, and on taking positive action to improve dealings with the people who cause problems or who can help.

Purpose: This training resource is intended for use by trainers with all staff for whom interpersonal dealings comprise a large percentage of the working day. All participants should have completed, ‘Rights in assertiveness’, and must have taken part in, ‘Behaviour styles’, or have undergone basic assertiveness training, to provide them with the background information and understanding to support this activity.
