One way to ensure good attendance is to have an attendance management policy. This communicates to staff that you are serious about attendance and provides a framework and standards against which you can manage attendance issues. This training activity stresses the need for an attendance management policy and is designed to enable participants to set up an attendance management system in their place of work.
You begin this training activity with a brief introduction and then discuss the importance of attendance management. The participants then work in groups to define the key elements of an attendance management policy. You review their ideas before explaining the different procedures and forms required. Next, the participants work individually or in groups to design forms for one or more aspects of an attendance management policy. They then present their designs to the whole group. Finally, you summarise the training activity, emphasising the key points.
