Are you really the only person who can do this work? A key to personal effectiveness is identifying which pieces of work you must do and which could be passed to others. This requires delegation – a skill that needs constant practice. It is very tempting simply to pass a task to someone and ‘hope for the best’, but really it is worth spending time initially to delegate the task properly. This will save you time and frustration later on. This training activity gives participants the opportunity to evaluate the benefits and pitfalls of delegation and to identify the key steps required to delegate a task.

You give participants the opportunity to assess the benefits and pitfalls of delegation and use a case study to illustrate the specific skills required. You then ask them to apply these skills to a further case study and to carry out a role-play.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to enable participants to understand the general principles of delegation and how to achieve real results through others.
