It is sometimes easy to forget that the recruitment process involves a two-way gathering of information. Not only does the recruiter need to find out about the candidates, the candidates need to find out about the job. In today’s competitive market, organisations need to think carefully about the information they give job candidates. In fact, they need to sell themselves to potential employees in much the same way that potential employees need to sell themselves to the organisation. This training activity looks at what information candidates need, and at how to pull this information together into the form of an information pack.
You start the training activity by explaining that recruitment is a two-way information-gathering process. You then introduce participants to the concept of an information pack for job candidates. Having discussed the key benefits of producing such a pack, participants split into two groups to put together a contents page for an information pack for their organisation. You then go through their ideas, before discussing the contents page of an information pack designed for an imaginary organisation, SwiftGate UK. You then outline how the information pack might change according to the nature of the job vacancy. Finally, you conclude with a summary of the key learning points of the training activity.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to show participants the value of putting together an information pack for candidates, and they are helped to identify the core components of such a pack.
