Having a vision is one thing – communicating it is quite another. One way of communicating the vision is to stand up in front of your team and explain the vision clearly, concisely and passionately. This training activity is designed to equip participants with the skills to do just that.

You begin the training activity by reminding the participants how important it is to communicate a clear vision, and suggest that a good way to develop their skills in this area is to study someone who is acknowledged as an expert. The participants then study the text of Martin Luther King’s, ‘I have a dream’ speech and consider what makes it so powerful and compelling. Next, the participants prepare short presentations about the vision they have for their team or organisation, incorporating at least three of the techniques they have identified.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to help participants to recognise that it is no use having a vision if their people don’t know what it is. They then consider how best to communicate a vision powerfully and memorably.
