Amongst other things, successful teams need cohesiveness and strength. Their identity as a team helps consolidate these attributes. This training activity sends small groups on a treasure hunt, partly for fun and partly to search for items that represent their team and symbolise the importance of their team to them. This results in team identity.

You explain that the purpose of this training activity is to explore the concept of team identity. Working in small groups, the participants are given a list of items that they have to find within a time limit. Once they have come back to ‘base’, they explain the symbolism of the items they have found and will be given points according to your own criteria. You explore the symbolism of the items they have chosen and lead a debriefing exercise. Participants then consider their own team identity and how to strengthen it.
