Competition between teams, in the workplace, can lead to energising and positive team conflict, or it can ‘get out of hand’ and be experienced as negative and destructive. One way to manage competition between teams productively is to negotiate, so that each team achieves positive results. This training activity is an opportunity for the participants to practise team negotiation, and to identify good practice in team negotiation to manage team conflicts.
Following your short introduction, the participants prepare in pairs and then negotiate with another pair, on a given scenario, representing their team. This is followed by a review of learning, back in the original pairs. You reconvene the whole group to identify learning about team negotiating and close the training activity with a short summary of the key points.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to allow the participants to practise team negotiating skills and to identify good practice in negotiating to manage team conflicts.
