In any one-to-one conflict there is a range of behaviours that either person can adopt when dealing with conflict. This conflict resolution training activity introduces participants to this range of behaviours and provides opportunities to identify appropriate behaviours to use in different situations when dealing with conflict.

You introduce the purpose of this training activity and the model ‘Options for dealing with conflict.’ Participants then individually assess their past responses to conflict situations and, in pairs, identify what they could do differently next time when managing conflict. Forming small groups, participants then move on to consider in what situations particular behaviours are useful.

Who is it for: This training activity is intended for use by trainers to introduce participants to a range of possible options for dealing with conflict: collaborating, competing, accommodating, avoiding and compromising. It is an opportunity for participants to assess
