Networking is an essential part of a company’s effectiveness. The way in which the individual views the subject, and values the outcomes, determines how committed they will be to active networking to benefit their department and organisation. This training activity examines the definition of the term ‘networking’, identifies organisations which network well, evaluates the individual’s current networking skills and develops a personal skills action plan.
The training activity begins with a lively exercise where the participants work in small groups to record their attitude to networking – who does it well, how they believe their department is viewed by others and the key skills for successful networking. This is followed by group discussion which expands on these areas. The participants then assess and rate their personal networking skills and transfer those they need to improve as high priority to a personal action plan.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to help participants consider what networking success looks like, and go on to recognise the key skills they need to become effective networkers and develop personal networking training plans.
