In today’s fast-paced world, electronic means of getting and keeping in touch have become a major part of business. This training activity examines the benefits and pitfalls of different methods of electronic networking.
To begin the training activity, the participants assess and rate their enjoyment and understanding of electronic networking. Working in small groups, the participants then think of the different mediums available for electronic networking and present their findings on sheets of flipchart paper. A master list is then made from their suggestions. The participants then look at the purpose of a SWOT analysis and how to use it, before carrying out a SWOT analysis on each of the electronic networking methods listed, accompanied by music. In a plenary session, the participants go on to evaluate the information collected by assessing and classifying each suggestion, and transferring the SWOT analysis for the mediums they chose for action on the handouts. Following this, they complete an action plan to use electronic communication to improve their networking activities. The training activity closes with a final exercise in which the participants reassess how they rated their enjoyment and understanding of electronic networking at the beginning of the activity.
