When asked about learning opportunities, many of us will mention formal training and learning events in which we have taken part. Further questioning is usually needed for people to recognise that they are, in fact, learning all the time. This training activity helps to make learning from everyday experiences a more structured and conscious process and develops the ability to take advantage of these experiences.

This training activity begins with a short exercise to get the brain working, after which the participants use a questionnaire to reflect on what opportunities they currently use for learning. This is followed by work in pairs to consider ways to extend this range. Participants then work in small groups, playing charades to explore using their experiences for learning. Finally, the participants summarise learning from work and complete individual learning logs.

Who is it for: This training activity is intended for use by trainers to enable participants to recognise what learning opportunities they already use and to consider future possibilities for expanding this range, and to recognise that everyday experiences can be used f
