It is not always easy to assess accurately how well others view a department’s image and activities. This training activity helps participants prepare a research document to determine how their department is viewed.
Your role is as monitor and motivator in this training activity, which has five distinct steps. The training activity is spread over a period of weeks, with the group reconvening at intervals to move on to the next step. Step one and step four takes place in the training environment, and steps two, three and five are implemented in the participants’ workplace. Step one involves preparing a research questionnaire. The participants discuss and decide on the questions they want answered, draft a research document and agree whom to send the questionnaire to. Step two is the sending out and collecting of the questionnaires. Responsibilities for this are delegated to the participants themselves. Step three is the collation of results. Again, the participants agree on who is to undertake this activity. The group re-forms for step four – evaluating the results and developing an action plan. Step five involves the participants in implementing changes and a follow-up questionnaire to assess perceived improvements.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers, over several weeks, to help participants assess, implement, collate and evaluate how their department is viewed, and then to develop an action plan to implement any changes necessary.
