Networking activity can be very haphazard and not taken seriously, and methods presently used may not be as effective as they could be. This training activity allows participants the opportunity to examine their present networking performance and create an action plan for more effective and professional networking.

The training activity starts with participants assessing how professionally they currently network by completing a self-assessment questionnaire. They then use the output from the questionnaire as a basis for discussion in groups, where they develop ideas for improving their networking skills. The main group re-forms, and participants share their ideas on solutions to common themes. Next, the participants prepare detailed action plans, sharing their strategies with a partner. The training activity concludes with a review of the importance of effective and professional networking.
