Having a model for seeking a change in behaviour is a necessary beginning, but it is unlikely that the receiving party will simply agree with whatever is being requested. Even the best ideas may have potential problems and may lead to questions, and it is important not to perceive this questioning as disagreement and become aggressive or non-assertive. This activity looks at a number of the possible negative responses, and ways to deal with them.
In this training activity, participants consider the response that their model is likely to receive, and plan how to deal with the behaviour (aggressive, non-assertive or assertive).
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers with participants to look at a range of possible negative responses to the model approach in ‘Tackling interpersonal problems – a model approach’, and ways to deal with them.
