There is a vast number of factors that impact on team learning and development; identifying the key ones, and the ones where an individual team leader has leverage, is crucial to success. This activity provides an opportunity for participants to identify key factors and then to assess their current role in promoting team learning and development.

The activity starts with an optional introductory exercise, then participants identify key factors that impact on team learning and development; this work is then summarised by the trainer. Next, using a questionnaire, participants assess their current role, clarify this with a partner and then identify priorities to work on. Based on their experiences of giving and receiving feedback in their pairs, the next exercise provides an opportunity for participants to identify good practice in giving and receiving feedback. The activity ends with participants completing a learning log and exploring how they could use the resource in this activity, with their teams in the workplace.
