One of the reasons that great leaders are able to take tough decisions is that they are very clear about what they believe in. This training activity gives participants an opportunity to think about what they really believe in and how this relates to taking tough decisions.

After identifying a recent or current difficult decision, participants consider the way in which the personal beliefs and values of a leader impact on their decisions. They then spend time in pairs clarifying their own beliefs and values in order to bring them to bear on a recent or current dilemma.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to show participants that decision making is easier if you know what you believe in. The participants then clarify their own values and beliefs and use them to analyse some recent real-life decisions.

Purpose: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to follow on naturally from ‘Decision making’. It covers similar ground to ‘Core values’, but approaches it from a different angle. It is useful in training programmes covering decision making, goal setting, influencing skills, leadership development, management skills, managing change and personal effectiveness.
