So far the participants have spent a lot of time and energy identifying who they need to network with and the benefits to their organisation. They will soon assemble a huge amount of data and detail, but to use all this effectively, it needs to be recorded and updated so that this valuable resource can be readily accessed.
To begin the training activity, the participants engage in a series of creative-thinking group discussion and plenary sessions to examine what they believe they need to be able to do to build and keep alive an effective network. They look at how to set up a successful database and develop a structured system for collecting and sorting data on networking contacts, and updating and cross-referencing information. The purpose of the final exercise, in the form of a competitive game, is to stimulate ideas for keeping a network active and developing relationships.
