This training activity enables participants to define counselling as one of the most non-directive development interventions.

In this training activity, participants explore the difficulties they may face when counselling employees of different ages in a work setting. All managers with staff may be drawn into the counselling process at one time or another. The training activity can also form an integral part of a training event designed to develop counselling skills for managers, or be used on events that aim to develop managers’ and supervisors’ skills in dealing with people. The training activity can also be linked with ‘Developing your workforce’ and/or ‘If they have to go’.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers acting as facilitators, but managers, coaches, colleagues or consultants can readily facilitate this training activity.
