How can we get staff to give of their best? How can we ensure that we are always offering the best possible service or product? If these are questions that senior staff in your organisation are asking (or questions you would like them to be asking), this training activity is for you. Senior managers need an opportunity to consider what the possibilities are and to weigh up the costs and benefits of introducing an organisation-wide system for performance management.

Following your introduction, participants list systems or processes for performance management with which they are familiar. You then summarise this with a brief presentation on some key performance management processes. Participants continue by identifying the costs and benefits of introducing an organisation-wide system and then reviewing this work to assess their current views. The training activity concludes with a brief exercise, in pairs, to consider whether, and if so how, they want to progress the issue of introducing such a system or process for managing performance and achieving high performance.
