You begin the training activity by highlighting some everyday examples of the Pareto principle, leading on to why Pareto Analysis is relevant to a quality programme. After hearing how it works, the delegates practise using Pareto on a simple example, before considering what additional information they might need for a real application.

Purpose: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to introduce participants to Pareto Analysis, a powerful technique which helps people to quickly recognise which aspects of a problem or opportunity are the ‘vital few’ and require priority attention. Pareto diagrams have high visual impact and can, therefore, assist in communicating ideas and priorities in a more ‘friendly’ manner than using conventional statistics.
