Most organisations have mission statements to which their goals are aligned. Similarly, people have values and will achieve their greatest successes when their objectives and goals are aligned to these values. When this is not the case, the employee will experience an inner conflict, be de-motivated, under-perform and feel like a square peg in a round hole. Values contain those elements of life that are really important to us. They contribute to our identity and yet, in the normal course of things, we rarely take the time to discover exactly what they are. This training activity is, therefore, both a unique and highly valuable personal development tool.

Working in pairs, participants use a values checklist to elicit and prioritise each other’s values as they relate to Career, with a second option of Lifestyle. They then compose their own Values statement which encapsulates everything that is truly important to them about their career.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to enable participants to elicit their values, identify any mismatching within their job and put an action plan in place to resolve any such conflicts. People achieve their greatest successes when their objectives and goals are aligned to their values.
