Before a product/service leaves the security of the organisation it will pass though a number of departments. In order to keep the business efficient and productive, the communication between each department needs to be clear and easy to understand. This is especially important when one department relies on another to make the transaction flow with ease. Credit control, sales, purchasing and warehouse for some reason spring to mind. It is quite clear, however, that most of the gaps in efficiency are likely to stem from the lack of communication between departments. It is often the case that few organisation members have any idea of what their colleagues in other departments actually do. This training activity addresses the issue by showing that it is not only clear communication that will improve efficiency, but also planning the method of communication in the first place.
Participants work in pairs to guide one another through a maze of cotton whilst one partner is blindfolded. The guide communicates by means of a mobile phone or shortwave radio, from an area where they cannot see or hear their partner.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to enable participants to ‘step outside the box’ and consider likely outcomes before diving in to avoid potential pitfalls.
