One-to-one meetings, between you and a staff member, are one of your most valuable tools in achieving high performance. You can use them to motivate staff, to identify problems and find solutions. However, structuring them so that you get what you want out of them is not always easy. This training activity provides an opportunity for participants to develop criteria to use, so that they use the optimum structure in given situations.
You start off briefly introducing the purpose of the training activity; you then form participants into three groups and each group works on one (chosen or allocated) issue, preparing a creative presentation to make to the whole group. The training activity ends with participants summarising their learning about getting the most from one-to-one meetings and also considering the impact of your decisions on forming groups and allocating issues.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to help participants get the most out of one-to-one meetings, their structure, and how to generate creative solutions.
