This training activity comprises of a case study that illustrates some of the typical issues and dilemmas that many people face when they are about to retire.

This training activity uses a case study to help participants explore the typical transition phases they will need to think about before retiring. The training activity is designed to be used on its own, but it works well with, ‘Mid-life planning’, ‘Motivation at different ages’, and/or ‘What are you going to do with the rest of your life?’

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers acting as facilitators, but managers, coaches, colleagues or consultants can readily facilitate this training activity.

Purpose: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to help participants explore the typical transition phases they will need to think about before retiring. It emphasises the importance of thinking ahead to retirement to better prepare for the many changes that take place. It demonstrates that we can follow the actions of others and identify a wide variety of sources of help and information that can help us prepare for retirement. A list of key sources of information and useful contacts is also provided. The training activity is designed to be used on its own, but it works well with the activities ‘Mid-life planning’, ‘Motivation at different ages’, and/or ‘What are you going to do with the rest of your life?’
