This introduces people to a variety of ways to record their progress in CPD and helps them to choose a method which is both congenial for them and acceptable to an employer or a professional institute. It will help them to answer the question, ‘How will you show you’ve arrived?’
You give a ‘mini-lecture’ on the essential content of an adequate record system for a CPD programme and describe the different varieties of record that people might use, together with the kind of supporting evidence which is useful. Then, mentoring pairs work together to choose their own recording methods. After people have shared their ideas in a plenary session, the training activity ends with participants choosing what to record for their own learning.

Purpose: This is the fifth of a series of five linked and consecutive training activities, ‘Auditing Your Assets’, ‘Set Your Objectives’, ‘Plan Your Route’, ‘Learn in Your Own Way’, and ‘Record to Prove It’, which together describe and practise the details of the CPD process as set out in ‘The Basics Of Your CPD’. Use this to illustrate the fifth part of the CPD process outlined in ‘The Basics of Your CPD’. It is preferable to precede it both with involvement activities and support activities so that people can mentor one another effectively.
