Reintegration after long periods of absence

If an employee as been absent for a long period of time, it is vital that they are reintegrated into the workplace effectively. This training activity gives the participants a range of techniques to facilitate reintegration, and the opportunity to plan how to use them in their workplaces.

You begin this training activity with a brief introduction explaining the importance of reintegrating an employee after a long period of absence. The participants work in groups to identify the benefits. You then lead a plenary session to discuss their ideas. The participants again work in groups to brainstorm their ideas on how to reintegrate an employee. You lead a further plenary session to review their solutions, how they would implement them and the resulting benefits. Next, the participants return to their groups to work on a series of case studies which provide practice in handling reintegration. Finally, you summarise the training activity by emphasising the key learning points.

Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to look at a range of techniques that facilitate reintegration to the work place, including reduced hours, retraining and re-induction programmes. Participants explore the options and plan how to use them in their work place.
