When we are under pressure we often reach out for something to support and comfort us – chocolate or crisps, coffee or cigarettes. The comfort they give us is momentary and leave us feeling worse than before. What we really need is the support and comfort of others but we’re afraid to ask for it.

In this training activity the participants learn, through plenary instruction and discussion, about the value of seeking support and how to take the fear out of asking for support. After a brief plenary discussion about the importance of a support network, the participants start to design their own support network.

Who is it for: This training activity is intended for use by trainers to help participants to appreciate the value of seeking the support of others. It gives participants practical guidance on building a support network for themselves and others.
