‘Be more assertive.’ ‘Use your time more effectively.’ ‘Learn to relax.’ Changing our behaviour is fundamental to successful stress management at work. However, unless it is approached in the right way, changing our behaviour can turn out to be an additional source of pressure.

In this training activity, through plenary instruction and discussion, participants learn that planning is essential if a change in behaviour is to reduce rather than increase stress. Working in pairs, they then plan a change of behaviour that will reduce the pressure they are under at work.
