There are many different ways in which a team leader can develop team members, and this training activity looks at just one – group training. Additionally, there are many skills and techniques needed to run an effective group-training session, and this training activity looks at just a few. This is intended, therefore, only as an introductory session to group training, to make the participants aware of the skills they could potentially gain in this area and to motivate them to find out more.
You begin this training activity by introducing the participants to the concept of the four areas of control needed to run an effective group-training session – managing your material, your equipment, your group and yourself. You then give examples of how they can better manage their training sessions by controlling each of these four areas in turn.
