This training activity enables participants to enhance their teams motivation thereby getting their teams to work more effectively.

You start the training activity by asking the participants why they work, establishing that money is one of the main reasons. You then go on to explore why money should not become the main focus of a manager’s endeavours for improving team motivation. You review the cycle of motivation and introduce the participants to the views of leading motivational theorists. Their motivation theories are integrated into a questionnaire designed to identify the order of priority of a number of common motivators at work. The participants complete the questionnaire and, working in small groups, use the top three items to explore how they can increase their effectiveness in team motivation. They finally establish an individual action plan which they can use for team motivation or motivation of themselves. You conclude the training activity by facilitating a learning review during which the participants identify the key team motivation points from the session and how they will apply them back at work.
