In most companies it is not only individuals who are expected to make successful, powerful presentations. For example, a group of people brought together for a specific project will often be asked to present their results at the end of the project in the form of a team presentation or a bid for work in a competitive tendering situation. This can be a challenge, for whilst someone may be a very good individual presenter, they may struggle to present as part of a team.
You start the training activity with an open discussion about the key points that make a team presentation different from an individual presentation. You then give a definition of what makes a team, and go on to explain the key components that go into making a group of people into a team: team, task, individual (based on John Adair's model). The participants design a short team presentation on the subject of ‘What makes a successful team’ and deliver it as a team whilst being filmed. They then review the videotape of the presentation by completing a review sheet. This they can keep as a record of their participation in a team presentation. You close the training activity by congratulating the participants on a successful team presentation, and reminding them of the advantages for themselves and for their company at being able to present with their team members.
