This is a powerful and enjoyable training activity, which provides an opportunity for participants to work as a team. It uses the coaching circle technique to focus on improving how they work together in order to complete the task in hand and achieve the set objective.

You set the group, which requires them to work as a team in order to complete it satisfactorily. It is a ball game called ‘hot potato (or satisfying the customer)’. The participants begin by setting a team goal. They the each set a personal goal – what they will do to contribute to better teamwork. You then start the exercise, using the coaching circle technique at intervals, to review their progress and keep them on track towards their team goal. When they have achieved their goal and produced a result that will ‘satisfy the customer’, you lead a full review of individual and team performance.
