In an ideal world, all staff would be highly motivated, positive and forward-looking all of the time. Reality tends to be less than ideal. It is easy to adopt static or even negative mindsets and can be hard to shake them off and behave in a different and more resourceful way. The ‘SWISH’ and ‘SMASH’ techniques are two options for achieving the same outcome. Using a visualisation methodology, the perception of current behaviour is displaced by a new compelling image of the desired behaviour. Because of the way the brain works, it believes that it has this ‘future self’ already. The result is a behavioural shift; the individual acts ‘as if’ the desired behaviour is current reality.

Participants work in pairs, coaching each other first through the ‘SWISH’ technique, and then through the ‘SMASH’ method for behavioural change. Both options are covered so that participants can choose for themselves which they would prefer for their personal use in the future.
