Identifying who needs to be influenced in order to maximise the potential of a department or organisation is an essential skill in networking. This training activity helps participants focus on who, specifically, they need to know and who needs to know them and why.

You begin the training activity by explaining to the participants the importance of communication with others in order to raise the profile and perceived value of their department or organisation. Working in small groups, the participants identify the key departments and people they need to make contact with, and use the FOG model to assess the accuracy of their information. Finally, the participants prioritise their lists of contacts and set up an action plan to upgrade the quality of the information they hold.
