Some people live to work and others work to live. In a competitive workplace it is important to balance the commitments of work and home. If too much emphasis is placed on work, and staff begin to suffer at home because of it, then attendance may suffer. This training activity is designed to help participants be aware of the importance of achieving an effective work/life balance in their organisations.
You begin this training activity with a brief introduction and the participants then work in groups to define work/life balance and list examples. You then lead a plenary session to discuss their suggestions and evaluate the benefits, both to the organisation and the individual. Next, you introduce an exercise which explores how organisations help or hinder work/life balance. In a further plenary session you review how an organisation could make changes in order to improve work/life balance. Finally, you summarise the key points of the training activity and answer any questions the participants raise.
Who is it for: This training resource is intended for use by trainers to make the participants aware of the impact that achieving a good balance between home and work can make to positive attendance.
