Team leaders have a pivotal role in enabling their teams to achieve their objectives and enabling team learning and development of their skills and abilities. Promoting team learning is more than helping team individuals. It involves taking appropriate interventions for the benefit of the whole team. This training activity gives team leaders the chance to explore and develop their own potential as promoters of whole team learning and development.
Participants use artwork to depict how they are seen as promoters of team learning and development by their own team. They expand on this and use a grid to depict how they appear to be performing. Small groups work to develop ideas about good practice for team leaders in helping their teams learn and develop, before completing a skills audit of their own practice. Pairs develop action plans for developing their own potential. The training resource ends with participants completing a learning log about their key learning from the team learning training activity.
